Rann went missing on Wednesday, November 26, 1986. The Leader originally reported, on December 3, 1986, Rann’s car had been found in the middle of Ray Bluff Road the night he disappeared. The keys were not in the car and there were small amounts of blood.
The local rescue squads spent several days searching for him; however, he was not found until December 10, 1986. He was found by the Tipton County Highway Department on Black Springs Road.
Cause of Death
According to the medical examiner, Rann was shot in the upper left chest area and in the back. Likewise, a gunshot grazed the side of his head.
Afterward, his wife remarried but was killed on August 23, 1990, after being shot. Furthermore, his daughter, Janie, passed away in a car wreck on September 18, 2003, and three months later the grandmother died at the age of 52.
