Illness is Fatal to B. E. Glass Sr.
Bishop Edmond Glass Sr. died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday in his home in the Detroit community, following an illness of about four months. He was 78. Mr. Glass was born and spent most of his life at Detroit. He was one of the first commercial fishermen in the county. He was also a retired farmer. He married Miss Hautie Pace, who survives him, 39 years ago.
Services were held by the Rev. W. L. Hill, assisted by the Rev. E. V. Underhill, pastor of the First Methodist Church, at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elm Grove Methodist Church. Burial under the direction of Maley Funeral Home, was in Munford Cemetery.
Besides his wife, Mr. Glass leaves three sons: Bishop E. Glass Jr. of Burlison, J. C. Glass of Covington and Orris Glass of Burlison and six daughters, Mrs. Eunice Massey and Mrs. Theo Puckett of Memphis, Mrs. Mattie Anderson of Detroit, Mrs. Opal McClure of Chattanooga, Mrs. Dorothy Turner of Humboldt and Mrs. June Ward of Chicago.
