Mr. James Glass a venerable citizen of the Garland community, died at the home of his son, Mr. David Glass, Monday morning, following a lingering illness. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, an active layman and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. At the time of his death he was one of the oldest native citizens of this county, being 81 years of age. The funeral was held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, Rev. S.R. Hart conducting the services at the residence of Mr. David Glass. The burial took place in old Shiloh cemetery, beside his wife, who preceded him to the grave a few years ago. He is survived by three sons, Samuel Johnson Glass, John Henry and David Glass, all of this county.
