COVINGTON – Ernie M Mills, 88, retired farmer, died Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Maley- Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery. Mills, the widower of Beatrice Mills, leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lorene Goforth and Mrs. Peggy Tracy, both of Covington.

Ernie M “Poolie” Mills was born on 19 May 1903 in Holly Grove, Tipton County, Tennessee. His father was John Manuel Mills, and his mother was Mary Agnes Whitesides Mills. Ernie grew up in Holly Grove with his five siblings. They were Sidney Randall “Ranel” (1893-1983), Eura Grace “Eudell” (1895-1980), Erskin Lee (1897-1960), Leno Ross (1901-1964) and Cecil Derwood Mills (1910-1987).
Poolie married Beatrice Mae Dailey on 27 Feb 1927, in Crittenden County, Arkansas. They had two children during their marriage. They were Lorene H Mills Goforth and Peggy Joyce Mills Tracey.
Ernie M “Poolie” Mills died on 7 Jun 1991, in Covington, Tennessee. He is buried in Indian Creek Cemetery next to his wife Beatrice.
