James Anderson Taylor was born on April 5, 1893, in Tipton County, Tennessee. His father was Caldwell Taylor, 33, and his mother was Louisa, 22.
He married Mary Edna Clowney on July 8, 1917 in Tipton County. They had two children during their marriage. They were Pearl Taylor and Mary Louis Taylor (Tipton) both of Mason, TN.
James registered for the World War I draft in 1917 at the age of 24. He went on to serve in the war.
Mr. Taylor died on August 24, 1988, in Mason, Tennessee, when he was 95 years old. He is buried in the Malone Cemetery.
COVINGTON – Anderson Taylor, 95, retired farmer, died Friday at Baptist Hospital-Tipton. Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Canaan Grove MB Church in Mason, where he was a member, with burial in Malone Cemetery there. Thomas Funeral Home has charge. He was a World War I Army veteran. Taylor, the husband of Mary Clowney Taylor, also leaves six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards and Mrs. Pearl Grandberry, both of Mason, Mrs. Ruby Roberts of St. Louis, Mrs. Mary Lash of Pontiac, Mich., Miss Bernice Taylor of Chicago and Mrs. Rochel Middleton of Millington; a sister, Mrs. Elnora Small of Chicago; 32 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.
