The Chapel of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, near Mason, Tennessee, will be the setting for the wedding of Miss Blanche Stuart Somervill, of Mason and Jackson, and Robert Winchester Emerson of Jackson. The wedding will be a major social event of the early fall season.
Miss Somervill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Augustine Somervill of Mason. Her grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. William Alexander Somervill of Mason and Mrs. Frederick Hamilton Stuart, and the late Mr. Stuart of Covington.
The prospective bride, a graduate of Byars Hall High School, Covington, attended George Peabody College, where she received her bachelor of science degree. She attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Medical Technology, and was graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine.
She is currently engaged in the practice of Pediatrics in Jackson.
Mr. Emerson is the son of Mrs. Robert Wesley Emerson and the late Rev. Mr. Emerson of Gulfport, Mississippi and Jackson. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Radford Withers of Jackson and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wesley Emerson of Troy, New York.
He graduated from Gulfport High School, and received his bachelor of arts degree from The University of the South at Sewanee, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Mr. Emerson later did graduate work at Northwestern University.
Mr. Emerson served overseas 28 months in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He is now an Information Officer of the Tennessee National Guard, with the rank of Captain.
He has been associated with Radio Station WTJS in Jackson, as Sales Representative, since 1946.

Following their wedding trip to Nassau, the former Blanche Stuart Somervill and her bridegroom, Robert Winchester Emerson, will live on Terrace Pl. The couple’s vows were exchanged Oct. 29 at Old Trinity Episcopal Church in Mason.

Mason – Services for Blanche Stuart Somervill, 94-year-old mother of Dr. Blanche Stuart Emerson of Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Dave Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Old Trinity Cemetery Cemetery near Mason.
Mrs. Somervill, widow of B. A. Somervill, died near noon Tuesday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born in Tipton County and lived in the Mason area all her life. She was a Methodist and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.
She leaves another daughter, Mary Carolyn Gill of Easton, Pa., and four grandchildren.
