JAMES EVANS ALEXANDER | Alexander, James Evans, lawyer, statesman, orange and fruit grower, was born December 17, 1860, near Covington, Tenn. He was educated at the Tipton male high school; and at the Lebanon law School of Cumberland University. He has been mayor of Enterprise, Florida; post office inspector under President Cleveland’s first administration; and for many years private secretary to United States Senator Wilkinson Call of Florida. In 1892-93 and 1908-09 he served as a representative in the Florida state legislature. In 1908 he was a delegate at large to the democratic national convention. He is a prominent attorney-at-law of De Land, Fla.; and a successful orange and fruit grower.
