LAURA APPLEWHITE STONE TIPTON | COVINGTON, Tenn., June 2. – The funeral of Mrs. Laura A. Tipton, who died early yesterday morning, took place at the residence of her son-in-law, John T. Garner, on Main Street, at 9 o’clock this morning, Rev. W. R. Potter, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, conducting the services, after which the remains were interred in Munford Cemetery. Mrs. Tipton was born and reared in Tipton County, and was 80 years of age. She was the widow of Hon. Nat Tipton, who was for years circuit court clerk of Tipton County. She is survived by the following children: Gen. John A. Tipton, attorney general of this judicial circuit; Mrs. John T. Garner and Mrs. M. L. Keathley of this city, Squire James Tipton of Brownsville, chairman of the Haywood County Court, and Mrs. S. W. Sanford of Putnam, Tex. A sister, Mrs. L. P. Reaves of this city, also survives her. Mrs. Tipton was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church.

I, Laura A. Tipton, of Tipton County, Tenn. being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking all others by me made.
1st. I give and bequeath my soul to an all wise and merciful God.
2nd. It is my wish that after my death my executor here inafter named will pay all my just debts as soon as possible.
3rd. I give and bequeath to beloved sister Mrs. Applewhite Reaves the sum of One hundred dollars in cash.
4th. I give and bequeath to my daughterinlaw Mrs. Allie D. Tipton the sum of Fifty dollars in cash.
5th. I give and bequeath to grand-daughter Bessie Sanford the sum of Twenty five $25.00 in cash.
6th. I will and bequeath to my son John A. Tipton my feather bed, pillows, bolster and bed covering for one bed.
7th. I give and bequeath to my grand-children Laudon Tipton and Sarah Tipton a one-seventh of all the remainder of my estate – except as provided for in bequest #9, and hereby appoint John Dearing as trustee to take the interest of said children and invest the same as he may deem best for their interest.
It is my wish that the said children shall only be permitted to spend the income of the estate hereby bequeathed until they each reach their majority.
8th. I will and bequeath all the remainder of my estate – except as provided for in bequest #9, – to my children Mrs. Rosa T. Sanford, John A. Tipton, Mrs. Eliza Keathley, Mrs. John T. Garner and James Tipton, share and share alike.
9th. I will and bequeath to Dallas Tipton, Willis Tipton and Nathan Martin the sum of five dollars each to be paid them by my executor. Owing to the advanced age and feeble health of William Tipton (Bill) I do not bequeath him a like sum but am giving it him in cash believing it will do him as much or more good.
10th. I hereby nominate and appoint my son James Tipton as my executor of this my last will and testament without requiring any bond of him.
