B Company, 1st Platoon of 2nd Squadron, 25th Infantry Division, USARV. His tour began on 29 March1967 in Hua Nghia. Died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds from a hostile explosive device. Body was recovered On June 07, 1967, the battalion(-) conducted roadrunner operations between Bao Trai and Cu Chi on Highway 8A. An APC from Company B hit a mine and burned. Six Bobcats were killed. Two of the bodies burned inside the track and could not be recovered until later in the day. Elements of the battalion also conducted a seal and search of Tho Mo on Highway 10, between Bao Trai and Duc Hoa. Elements also continued security missions in the area. He was a Marine Corps Rifleman assigned with B Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III MAF. While participating in "Operation Prairie" in the vicinity of Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam the Battalion came into contact with enemy forces and during this engagement 25 Marines were killed in action. One of the casualties was LCPL McCullough who died as a result of a gunshot wound on Sept 16, 1966 |
